Product safety
At KBS, the joy of building comes first – but only when it's safe. We select our manufacturers and products with the greatest care. On this page, we transparently inform you about the safety standards of our building block sets and give you important guidance for the safe handling of our models.
Certified quality to EU standards
The safety of our customers, big or small, is non-negotiable for us. All products we offer are CE-certified and fully comply with the EU Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC.
The CE marking documents that the respective product complies with the applicable requirements of the European Union. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that the materials used (usually high-quality ABS plastic) are safe, non-toxic and durable.
Important safety information & age recommendations
Building block sets naturally consist of a large number of small parts. To avoid accidents, please be sure to observe the following notes:
- Choking hazard: Our products are not suitable for children under 3 years. Small parts could be swallowed or inhaled.
- Adult supervision: The sets should be used, especially by younger children, only under adult supervision.
- Age suitability: Many of our sets (especially in the Technic or Architecture category) are designed as expert models due to their complexity and number of parts. Please note the respective age recommendation on the product packaging or in the item description.
Safe handling of technical sets and batteries
Some of our models contain motors, battery boxes or remote controls. The following applies to these:
- Battery Act (BattG): Products may contain rechargeable or disposable batteries. As a retailer, we are obliged to inform you about proper disposal in accordance with § 18 BattG. You will find details on this in our terms and conditions. Batteries do not belong in household waste!
- Charging: Battery boxes should only be charged with the designated cables and under supervision. Avoid charging overnight or on flammable surfaces.
- Proper use: Our models are designed as display pieces or for indoor operation. No liability is accepted for damage caused by improper use or unauthorized modifications to the electronics.
