It was built in 1855 and ran for the Western \u0026amp; Atlantic Railroad. It became world-famous through the “Great Locomotive Chase” of 12 April 1862 during the American Civil War: Union soldier James J. Andrews and his men hijacked the locomotive in Marietta, Georgia, to sabotage the Confederate supply lines. Confederate conductor William Fuller pursued them in a wild chase over more than 100 kilometres. The episode became known as “Andrews' Raid” and was filmed twice.
