The Mould King 10233 – Mould King Aircraft Engine is a building block model of a radial engine, as used in classic propeller aircraft. With 3,089 parts, it creates a large cutaway model with moving pistons and valves, as well as a synchronized propeller – powered by an electric motor.

The Original – The Radial Engine

The radial engine is a type of piston engine where the cylinders are arranged in a star shape around the crankshaft. This design defined the golden age of aviation: from the 1920s to the 1950s, radial engines were the standard powerplant for many propeller aircraft because they were lightweight, robust, and well air-cooled. The circular arrangement of the cylinders allowed them to operate without complex liquid cooling.
