The Mould King 12027S – Mould King EMD SD40-2 Diesel Locomotive is a motorized building block model of one of the most famous US freight locomotives. With 1,257 parts, it creates a replica of the EMD SD40-2 over 60 cm long – including remote control and transport wagon with a crane.

The Prototype – the EMD SD40-2

The EMD SD40-2 is one of the most widely built diesel locomotives in history. It was introduced in 1972 by General Motors' Electro-Motive Division (EMD) and over 3,900 units were built until 1986. It is still in use in North America today – primarily with major freight railway companies such as Union Pacific, BNSF, and Canadian Pacific. The locomotive has a turbocharged 16-cylinder diesel engine with around 3,000 hp and pulls heavy freight trains over long distances across the North American continent. The characteristic yellow-red color scheme of Union Pacific makes it particularly recognizable. Its robust, reliable design and long service life have made the SD40-2 a true legend of North American railways.

The Model – Mould King 12027S

The Mould King diesel locomotive model translates the distinctive silhouette of the SD40-2 into building blocks – with the two bogies, the long locomotive body, the cab, and the characteristic roof structures. The set has a modular design: the cabin and freight containers can be removed. The scope of delivery also includes a multifunctional platform with a crane and a transport wagon. The crane can transfer containers from the locomotive to the truck. The locomotive is controlled via the MK+ remote control. The motor, battery box, and remote control are included. The bricks are from GoBricks.

The Mould King 12027S building block train set comprises 1,257 parts made of ABS plastic. The finished model measures 6.6 × 10.6 × 60.7 cm (W × H × D). The motor and remote control are included. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
