The Original – the Bugatti W16 Engine

The W16 engine is one of the most extraordinary power units in automotive history and the centerpiece of Bugatti hypercars like the Veyron and Chiron. In the W16 design, 16 cylinders are arranged in a characteristic W configuration – essentially two narrow V8 banks joined into a compact block. Combined with four turbochargers, the 8-liter unit in Bugatti models produces well over 1,000 hp and enables top speeds exceeding 400 km/h. The W16 is considered a technical masterpiece and a symbol of uncompromising engineering in the hypercar segment.
